Cape Torokina..Bougainville ... On November 1st the 3rd Marine Division along with the 3rd Raider Battalion were tasked with seizing the Bougainville coast just northwest of Empress Augusta Bay. This included the Islands of Puruata and Torokina..Japanese defenses were expected to be light...but a 75mm gun dug in off the coast gave a good account for itself and the machineguns located on the small islands caused considerable disorder and panic for the approaching Marines...PBEM scenario based on real events......Rev. 2.1
