Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands: [Best played as Allied] Only two months after the Gilbert Islands fell to US Army and Marine assaults, American amphibious forces under Admiral Nimitz were ready to move on their next target, the Marshall Islands. The Japanese Imperial Command had much of its attention focused on Operation Cartwheel in the southwest Pacific. It was not expecting the Americans to be ready for further amphibious operations in the central Pacific so quickly and were surprised when the attack on the Marshalls began in late January 1944. Bypassing other more heavily fortified islands, Nimitz struck with the 7th Infantry Division at Kwajalein, on the southern end of Kwajalein Atoll, held by the Japanese 6th Base Force reinforced by elements of the 1st Amphibious Brigade and the 4th SNLF. Following an unprecedented preparatory bombardment during the night, on February 1st, the 32nd and 184th Regimental Combat Teams boarded amphibious tractors and followed a line of amphibious tanks toward Beach Red on the western tip of the crescent shaped island. Main challenge for the Americans is to get as many hexes as possible from well defended Japs

Opponent stayed fixed throughout scenario. Would have been more challenging had his forces released at some point during the battle.
