Zitadelle.KG von Manteuffel - The Matrix Games version of East Front II

Samodurovka, (13 Kms S. Orel, Russia).Human opponent.Historical scn. The Zitadelle operation starts in the northern flank. Model's 9th Army units attacked the Kursk salient where Russian army had built a extraordinay defensive perimeter with several belts of trenches, mine areas and strongpoints to stop german attack. Most of armoured forces are deployed in the southern flank, so Model had to get a break using infantry divisions supported only by two armoured divisions. After initial success, the attack halted in all front. Only in the Samodurovka area, the Gruppe von Manteuffel, a Jager Infantry Regiment obtained a penetration in the Russian19th Tank Corps area. Model decided to launch all available reserves with some units of 20th Panzer Division and a tiger I tank company detached from their main unit already engaged in the east. Poniry and Samodurovka sectors were the most intense combat areas in the northern flank of Zitadelle offesinve. The objective in this scenario is seize the high ground in the southern area of map destroy all russian forces in the sector.
