Glinki, 20km NW of Roslavl; [Best Played vs Human Opponent]; As part of the offensive on Roslavl which started on August 1st, 1941 the 197. Infantry Division was assigned the task of moving east and cutting the Smolensk - Roslavl Highway. By the 2nd, elements of the 332 Infantry Regiment managed to reach the highway in the area of Glinki. First to capture the village and highway was 10. Company/III Battalion. The Russians, realizing they were being surrounded loaded onto trucks and stormed into the village. After bitter fighting, recaptured the village. By the end of the afternoon, the village would fall again to the reinforced Germans. Over the course of the next few days the village would change hands numerous times, leaving it in burning ruins.
