Orsha, Russia: [Best Played vs Human Opponent]: In preparation for the attack across the Dnepr, 17. Panzer Division had to be pulled from their engagement northwest of Orsha. To guard the flank north of Orsha, two small battlegroups were created and thinly spread along the line. These two battlegroups, Streich and Usinger, contained recon, antitank and the motorcycle assets of 17. Panzer Division while the rest of the division moved to the south of Orsha to prepare for crossing. While maintaining their bridgehead over the Dnepr at Orsha, the 16th Army conducted a series of probes into the thinly held screen. Attacking early on the morning of July 11th, mobile infantry of the 5th Mechanized Corps, supported by tanks attacked the line with the objective of cutting the rail link between Orsha and Turowitscha.
