The Road to Voronezh - The Matrix Games version of East Front II

Version 1.01....This scenario is best played against a human opponent. It is also suitable for a team game should you so desire.It is a semi historical scenario. The OOB and map are as close as I can get to what was actually there.I did take the liberty of making the Russian infantry motorised for purposes of game play. A special thanks to Steve "Von Niemack" who contributed much of the information used in making both the OOB and map.In the summer of 42 the Germans launched Operation Blue. The initial operations struck East towards Voronezh and eventually south towards the Caucasus. This caught Stalin and Stavka completely by surprise as they were expecting the main offensive to be directed towards Moscow. Two Kampfgruppen from the Grossdeutcshland Motor Infantry Division and one from the 24th Panzer Division have broken through and are racing towards the key communications center of Voronezh. In a daring coup de main lead elements of Grossdeutschland have siezed a crossing on the Olym river which is the last major obstacle on the road to Voronezh. Stalin has heeded Gen Golikov's call for reinforcements and sent tank brigades to reinforce the area. Unfortunately the Stukas located the assembly areas and have caused some damage to the advancing Russian Brigades. Doggedly, the Russians are continueing to move towards Keluvka in a desperate attempt to stop the speeding German Kampfgruppen.
