Gotha, NE of Kharkov: [Best played against Human opponent. Recommend the use of optional armor facing rule.] During the last few days of April 1942 both the Germans and the Russians continued to probe the enemy lines in preparation for their planned summer offensives around Kharkov. Soviet Major Grinyov's 1st Battalion/36th Tank Brigade was given the task of securing the railway sidings outside of the small village of Gotha, north east of Liptsy. Thinking to find the area unoccupied by the enemy and looking forward to a few days of rest, the Russians instead encountered the 2nd Battalion/201st Panzer Regiment intent on securing the village and rail facilities for their own use. When neither side showed a willingness to withdraw, and with their holiday plans pushed aside, the Red Tankers slammed the hatches of their T-34s and charged to meet the equally willing German Panzers! Special thanks to Beta Brigade Testers Arne Beruldsen, Hugh Browne, Bart Gauvin, Paul Lebowitz, Jim Mays, Patrick Mullen, Richard Munroe, Craig Stewart

A cute little scenario

I don't particularly care for this scenario because too much is determined by initial deployments, and there is not enough time for tactics or skill to really make a difference. But that's just me.

Small, hard hitting scenario that features recon and tanks. Germans have to get close and use their leaders, while the Russians need to maintain distance to take advantage of 76mm. As they move first, the Russians seem to have the advantage of holding most of the VP hexes in strength when the Germans move into the area.

The least (or one of the couple of the least) entertaining scenario I played in PBEM. It ended up as a stand off decided by dice rolls....
