Smolensk: [Best Played vs Human Opponent]: The last fighting in the city of Smolensk during occurred during the late evening of July 16th, 1941. The 71. Infantry Regiment of the 29. Motorized Division had secured the rest of the city earlier in the afternoon and was clearing the last of the Russian resistance by nightfall. The remaining Russian forces weren't so eager to let up. They held on to the entrenched and bunkered positions and fought bitterly until the last rifle was silenced. This last battle of the capture of Smolensk occurred in the northeast part of the city, in the cemetery. [2.04 UPDATE]
