Gotterdammerung - The Berlin Citadel - The Matrix Games version of East Front II

By the 26th of April 1945 the Army Groups of Marshals Koniev and Zhukov had surrounded Berlin and had begun their massive attack designed to pierce the heart of the Reich and destroy the 'Fascist Enemy of the Motherland', Adolf Hitler. Soldiers of the German Wehrmacht supported by the Volkssturm and the Hitler Youth died in their thousands trying to stop them, but in vain... The badly mauled remnants of LVI Panzer Corps retreated to the central Berlin defence area or 'Citadel' as it was known. Here were the Government buildings such as the Reichstag and Hitlers Chancellery. During the night of the 29th the Soviet 150th Rifle Division stormed the Moltke Bridge and gained a foothold across the Spree River.The morning of the 30th saw the final battle begin!
