[This scenario is intended to be played with the Blitzkrieg EFII expansion pack installed] Location : Daken, East Prussia. In early October 1944, the Soviet steamroller managed to break through the defensive lines of Armee Gruppe Nord. Soon this breach was widened and numerous troops were pouring through. German high command could not seal the breach immediatly so reinforcements were called up to close it and stabilise the front once more. On the northern shoulder of the breach, the Hermann Göring panzer divisision, supported by 5th Panzer divison was driving south against strong mechanised forces. In the south a newly formed brigade, the Führer Grenadier Brigade, was asked to do the same from the south. Despite the fact that it's commander knew very well that it could mean the end of his brigade, he simply replied : "It will be my honour"

great forces mix but I´m not sure about the balance. A lot of armor killing german infantry and the long range of the Panthers defeated the russians in this game and in another I played the allies. But for the germans it´s fun:-)

In my opinion the only way for the Germans to win would be if the Russians decide to go toe to toe early on trying to take more ob's. By taking the one OB quickly the Russians get a major win. Since German Tanks don't arrive until like turn 3, it gives the Russians plenty of time to take the first OB you need for your win. After that the Germans are just trying to play catch up.

No matter which way The Germans attack, it doesn't matter. If the Germans come in from the North with the strength they need to go against the Russian, all they have to do is drop down to the South in force and take more ob's. If the Germans come in from the South, all you have to do is run to the exit hex while holding me off for 3-5 turns and take points exiting. If the come in from the center, the Russian are the one with LOS just like now by sitting back with a large armor force and taking Germans out as they attack. In short the Germans are screwed before the first turn.

In my opinion the only way to balance this game is to take out the northern exit hex, start both side with a draw, and make the Russians take at least 2 ob's for a minor and 3 for a major.

That is just my opinion as a scn' designer and I am sure most people play this out thinking the Russian need to attack. Anyone having played it before will realize you don't have to attack.

In real life I would have waited for the Russians to attack or exit. Not worth the losses trying to attack them head on with the armor I had against their heavy tanks and numbers. Also, the all the crap ½ track mounted AA and AT is just cannon fodder racking up more points for the Russians.
