(Matrix edition)Belgorod, 90km N of Kharkov: (Best played head to head) After their victory in Stalingrad the Soviets launched an attack southward to sieze Kharkov. The Russian attack had two prongs, one launched toward Volchansk, the other toward Belgorod. The Motorized Rifle Division Grossdeutschland was already engaged in and around Volchansk when the alarm came from Belgorod. Elements of the GD rushed to the city to support the belaugered garrison trying to hold on against the Soviet tide. As the rattle of machine guns and the clatter of tank treads signalled the start of the Russian attack, a light snow began to fall.
