Assault on Mt Pleasant * * April 2010, Tensions between the UK and Argentina over oil and mineral resources in the South Atlantic have boiled over. * Argentina invades the Falkland Islands. * * The state of repair of many of the Argentinian ships is unknown. but for this scenerio it is assumed that they are all functional. * * The Argentinian Navy has the capacity to transport 2 Mechanised infantry companies, 2 tank companies and 1 artillery company. * Elements of the Agrupacion de Fuerzas de Operaciones Especiales (FOE) have previously been landed by submarine to locate British defences. * * The Argentinians have 4 MEKO 360H destroyers and aircraft to provide support. * * The British defence comprises one infantry company Yorkshire Regiment, 1 company RAF regiment and the Falkland Island Defence Force (FIDF) consisting of 1 infantry company. Support is provided by HMS Manchester, the 4 Eurofighter Typhoons and 105mm off-map artillery from the artillery base. * * In a separate scenerio, 2 Marine companies have been assigned to attack the British artillery base . * * Game notes. * * This game has been designed to simulate the maximum force that Argentina could project against a reinforced British garrison, it has not been specifically designed to be balanced. * * WinSPMBT can not simulate the effects of British air and submarine attacks on the Argentinian invasion force. * * This scenerio may be played on its own or in conjuction with the artillery base attack scenerio. * * If played as a co-ordinated battle the Argentinian player decides which battle to start first and when to start the second battle. It is recommended that the Mt Pleasant assault be started after about 10 turns of the artillery base attack. If the Argentine player does not start the attack on Mt. Pleasant on or before turn 15 of the Artillery Base, the Mt. Pleasant battle should stop at the equivalent of turn 50 in the Artillery Base battle. At this point turn off all off map arty and send files back and forth until the game ends. * * Optional points for two player battle. As the victorious player wishes to use the Mt. Pleasant facilities any damage should be penalised. * The intent of these penalty points is discourage artillery and air strikes on infantry within buildings. * Damage to Runways 30 points/hex. * Damage to Fuel storage 50 points/hex. * Damage to Headquarters building or Control tower 20 points/hex. * Damage to other buildings within Mt Pleasant base 10 points/hex. * These points should be deducted from the Winning players points. * * If the Argentinan force captures and holds the flag within the Headquarters building for 2 succesive rounds they are awarded a bonus of 200 points. This represents the value of captured Britsh documents and is only awarded if the building is undamged at the time of the occupation.. * The Argentinian force keep the points even if the building is subsequently damaged or the flag hex retaken. * * The rules for co-ordinated battles can be found on the Blitz website "https://www.theblitz.club/message_boards/showthread.php?tid=55156" * * * Designed by * Gibratar * Blitz wargame club "https://www.theblitz.club"
