All the USSR needs to do is exit his units. I lost a few, but found if I keep moving toward the exit, I accumulated enough points to win. I did lose some units, but still won the engagement.
I didn't use to understand what people saw wrong with the scenarios that made you have to step into an ambush just because the scenario doesn't play properly - now I do; it severely limits your options in an unrealistic manner.
