Just North of the Piva River...Bougainville. When the 3rd Marines begin to scout eastward towards the East-West trail they ran straight into elements of the Japanese 23rd Regiment who were using the high ground as an observation post over Empress Augusta Bay. With the sounds of a Japanese machinegun opening up on the wet and tired Marines a quick firefight began for control of the jungle covered knolls. ....... PBEM scenario based on real events.
