Scenario Briefing: The German attack at Sochaczew on September 16th met stiff resistance and 1st and 4th Panzer divisions were unable to break through the Polish lines. Nearly 50,000 soldiers from armies Pomorze and Poznan managed to cross the Bzura near Brochow and made for Modlin. Most of these were cut off in the Kampinos Forest, but a few thousand evaded capture and arrived at the relative safety of the fortress town. Among the survivors was General Mikolaj Boltuc, who had previously commanded an operational group in Army Pomorze and was known as an energetic and capable commander.

Boltuc, along with remnants of the 17th and 4th Infantry divisions and some assorted cavalry, was tasked with defending the supply depot at Palmiry, about halfway between Modlin and Warsaw. Group Palmiry fended off desultory attacks against the depot on September 21st, but the German advances to the north and south had made Boltuc's position untenable. 29th Motorized Infantry Division interposed itself between Palmiry and Fortress Modlin while, to the south, the remnants of the 25th Infantry Division and elements of 30th Infantry Regiment fought desperately around the Warsaw suburb of Mlociny. While the Poles were able to hold Mlociny, they could offer no resistance to the advancing elements of 18th Infantry Division and the Germans occupied Lomianki unopposed, cutting the road from Palmiry to Warsaw. Isolated, Boltuc decided to abandon the depot and ordered his command south towards Warsaw. Setting out after dark on the 21st, Boltuc's troop arrived in front of Lomianki after midnight and prepared for a desperate predawn assault.

Recommended Rules: (Default)
Alternative Assault Resolution, Artillery Set Up, Recon Spotting, Virtual Supply Trucks, Optional Surrender, Low Visibility Air Effects, Quality Fatigue Modifier, Counter Battery Fire, Night Fatigue, Programmed Weather.

Additionally, Delayed Disruption Reporting will provide a more challenging experience for the attacking player.

Design Notes:

1. Group Palmiry starts the scenario isolated. Its units will run out of ammunition very quickly. The Polish player's best chance of breaking through the German lines is to assault on Turn 1.
