Scenario Briefing: 322nd Infantry Regiment's attack on September 12th was met with stiff resistance. After two days of fighting, the Germans had captured the northwestern corner of Kepa Oksywkie but were exhausted. To the 322nd Infantry's left, 32nd Border Guard was stymied around Mosty and SS-Heimwehr Danzig was routed by a Polish counterattack. Meanwhile, Dabek's bold plan to counterattack toward Reda and encircle and annihilate a portion of 207th Infantry Division proved disastrous. ON Battalion IV suffered heavy losses, ON Battalion V practically ceased to exist, and 1st Reserve Battalion, advancing toward Reda, was surrounded and surrendered. The counterattack had achieved little and lost much. Further south, 374th Infantry Regiment was moving northward to link up with the rest of 207th Infantry Division. With only one infantry battalion and some small improvised units to defend against an attack from the southwest, Dabek had no choice but to withdraw. He ordered his forces to abandon Gydnia by the night of September 13th and concentrate on the high ground of Kepa Oksywska. This would spare the civilian population in the city and allow him to shorten his lines. Eberhardt's 1st and 2nd Danzig Infantry Regiments occupied the city the next day against little opposition.

Kaupisch, the overall German commander around Gdynia, planned to attack Kepa Oksywska again on September 14th, but further Polish counterattacks persuaded him to act with caution. Rather than waste his infantry in costly frontal assaults, the German commander decided to bomb the Poles into submission. German artillery, Kriegsmarine air squadrons, and the Schleswig-Holstein pounded the exposed Polish positions from September 14-17th. The German infantry engaged in only limited attacks to gain ground in preparation for a final assault. Kaupisch repeatedly delayed the general assault, finally settling on September 19th. On the 17th, however, the Germans scored a major success. II/IR 48 and III/IR 368, attacking from the north and south, forced the surrender of the 2nd Reserve Battalion. Dabek threw the 1st Marine Rifle Regiment, now reduced to a single consolidated battalion, against the attackers in an effort to retake 2nd Reserve's position, but the attack achieved nothing but the further Polish losses. Emboldened by their success on the 17th, the Germans moved their timetable forward. 322nd Infantry Regiment would attack from its position on the northwestern corner of Kepa Oksywska on September 18th while the 368th Infantry, supported by a battalion of the 374th, attacked from the southwest. Exhausted and short of ammunition, Polish resistance at Kepa Oksywska was nearly spent and the campaign around Gdynia would soon draw to a close.
