Date: September 7th, 1939 - Size: Small - Location: Lomza & Nowogrod
Intended for play as Axis Human vs Allied AI or Head to Head
Scenario Briefing: After breaking through the Polish defenses at Grudziadz, the 21st Infantry Division turned eastward, advancing obliquely to the Vistula and the remnants of Army Modlin. Rather then fall upon Warsaw from the north, Army Group North was to force its way across the Narew river and push deep into the heart Poland, overwhelming the mobilization centers east of the capital and crushing Poland’s means of fighting a protracted war.
Independent Operational Group Narew provided for the defense of the river. With just two infantry divisions (one of them a reserve formation) and two cavalry brigades, the group was thinly spread and unable to defend the entire length of the river. The 18th Infantry Division was spread out across nearly 50 kilometers, relying on the marshy terrain to funnel the enemy toward well-placed fortifications around Ostroleka, Nowogrod, and Lomza.
Around midday on September 7th, the lead elements of the 21st Infantry Division had arrived in front of Lomza and Nowogrod and prepared to attack. Though the Germans enjoyed advantages in firepower and manpower, these advantages would be tested by the strength of Polish fortifications and the determination of the Polish defenders.
Recommended Rules: (Default)
Alternative Assault Resolution, Artillery Set Up, Recon Spotting, Virtual Supply Trucks, Optional Surrender, Low Visibility Air Effects, Quality Fatigue Modifier, Counter Battery Fire, Night Fatigue, Programmed Weather.
Additionally, Delayed Disruption Reporting will provide a more challenging experience for the attacking player.
