Scenario Briefing: Advancing across the German border near Rosenberg, 4th Panzer Division overwhelmed the Polish border guards and seized the town of Krzepice in the first hours of the campaign. By midmorning, the Panzers had run into the Wolynska Cavalry Brigade in front of the railroad station at Mokra. To the south, 1st Panzer Division battled the advance elements of 7th Infantry Division as it closed in on Wreczyca and Klobuck. Operating side by side, the two armored divisions were to sever the link between Army Lodz and Army Krakow before pushing northwards toward Radomsko and Piotrkow Trybulanski.

The Battle of Mokra represented a transition in military history, pitting tanks and motorized infantry against horse cavalry and armored trains. Though the Germans enjoyed technical and numerical superiority, the Polish cavalrymen had deployed skillfully and were ready to put up a determined fight. The short, but sharp, engagement at Mokra would be particularly ferocious and foreshadowed the intensity of the coming campaign.
