Intended for play as Soviet vs AI or HTH
Designer Notes: This scenario describes the 10th Army's attack from Kirov
Scenario Briefing: The attack carried out from the Kirov bridgehead by General Popov's 10th Army had an unexpected success, since from the first moment, his army managed to break the German defenses in the north, where it had the objective of taking the city from Spas-Demensk. In this place, it was to converge with the 33rd Army that was advancing to the city from the north. This plan, drawn up by the commander of the Western Front, sought to destroy part of the LVI.PzK and the XII.AK that protected the approaches to Spas-Demensk. Due to the success of the 10th Army in its offensive, General Sokolovsky wanted to reinforce the advance of the 10th Army, since Popov's army did not have sufficient resources to successfully progress north. On August 12 he sent the 5th Mechanized Corps and the 6th Guards Cavalry Corps from the area of the 10th Guards Army on a night march of more than 70 km to the Kirov area. After the arrival of both corps, he ordered the cavalry corps to return north to support the 33rd Army but left the 5th Mechanized Corps to support 10th Army's advance towards Spas-Demensk.
Recommended Rules: Alternative Assault Resolution, Artillery Set Up, Recon Spotting, Virtual Supply Trucks, Low Visibility Air Effects, Quality Fatigue Modifier, Counterbattery Fire, Night Fatigue, Programmed Weather, Limited Air Recon.
