Scenario Briefing: Operation Spring Awakening (Frühlingserwachen) was the last major German offensive of World War II. Also known as the Plattensee offensive by German sources and as the Lake Balaton defensive operation by Soviet Union sources. It took place in Western Hungary, 50 km southwest of Budapest. It lasted from March 6 to March 15, 1945.
The main objective was the encirclement and destruction of the 3rd Ukrainian Front between the Lakes Balaton and Valence and the Danube River. The German units involved from Army Group South included the 6th Panzer Army (with two SS-Panzer Corps) and the III Panzer Corps from Army Group Balck. Eight Panzer Divisions and numerous armored battalions were assembled. In front of them was the 3rd Ukrainian Front with its new and powerful anti-tank brigades based on the deadly SU-100 Self-Propelled Artillery vehicle.

Design Notes: This scenario covers the attack by 6th Panzer Army and III Panzer Corps in the area between Lake Balaton and Lake Valence, thus no offensive south of Lake Balaton (no 2nd Panzer Army nor Soviet 57th Army and its allies 1st Bulgarian Army and Yugoslavian 12th Corps). This scenario has some Limited Victory Points locations, check expiration dates in the Info Menu->Objectives.

Recommended Rules: [Default] Alternative Assault Resolution, Artillery Set Up, Recon Spotting, Virtual Supply Trucks, Low Visibility Air Effects, Quality Fatigue Modifier, Counterbattery Fire, Night Fatigue, Programmed Weather, Limited Air Recon.
