Scenario Briefing: The US 6th Infantry Division was tasked with taking Kiangan, a small town which facilitated the narrow Route 4 which wound up to Bontoc and was a main supply route for the Japanese army. Now that the Allies were pushing in on all sides it became important to hold this road so that units from the east could unite with the Shobu Group's "Last Redoubt."

The 63rd RCT would lead the way with the 20th RCT ready to help out. Japanese troops of several commands were tossed together to form a makeshift defensive line. They were successful in checking the 6th Infantry Division for a short time but eventually the line crumbled and Kiagan fell on July 12th.
