Designer Notes: This scenario simulates the Russian defense against German attacks on the southern front of the Kursk salient during Operation Zitadelle.
Scenario Briefing: The offensive during Operation Zitadelle on the southern part of the Kursk salient was made by PzAOK.4 and Armee-Abteilung Kempf. The main thrust would have to be carried by two powerful armored formations, the XXXXVIII.Pzk and the II.SS.PzK. They would have to make a frontal attack on the well prepared and fortified Soviet lines that had several months to be ready. Armee-Abteilung Kempf with two more army corps, the III.PzK and the Korps Raus, would storm across the Donets River to protect the flank of the PzAOK.4 in their northern progression towards the city of Oboyan and later Kursk, where they would have to link up with the advance from the north of General Model’s AOK.9. The Soviet high command, which had knowledge of German intentions, had prepared strong reserves behind their defensive positions. After wearing down the Germans, they were to launch powerful counterattacks.
