Scenario Briefing: The Russians had packed the Liutezh bridgehead with a huge attack force and they unleashed this force on the German 68th Infantry Division which was dug in awaiting the inevitable offensive. On the first day of the offensive the 50th and 51st Rifle Corps would lead the way with the 5th Guard Tank Corps following closely behind the center divisions for added weight and in hopes that they could exploit the eventual breakout. Their hopes would be dashed as the German troops would put up a stout defense.
The Germans committed the 7th Panzer and 20th Panzer Grenadier Divisions to the fighting. Only the incredible numerical advantage of the Russian army carried the city by the 6th of November.
This scenario depicts the first two days of the attack. The Russians have a huge amount of artillery at their disposal.
