Marina Gorki, 70 kms SE of Minsk, June 29th 1944: The Soviet ring had closed round Bobruysk. Elements of the battered German 9th Armee were trying to break out to the NW, but masses of Russian units were preventing this happening. Hitler had reluctantly released the 12th Pz Division from AG Ukraine, they had arrived by train and had unloaded in the Marina Gorki area. Their orders were to keep the path open for any survivors, but it was a "last ditch effort". The Soviets were determined to smash this block and move on to Minsk. Good balanced scenario. The Germans will take a beating, but if they play their defense correctly they will be able to get a draw (or better) out of the game as time will become a factor for the Russians.
Dog Soldier
Weather (soft conditions) on the second day has more to do with slowing the Russians than the German defense.
Fast is fine, but accuracy is everything.

Russians have a hard time coming to grips with the Germans.

The Soviets don't have enough time to reach and attack the German objectives in the rear.

A tough situation for the German side defending against the more numerous Russians. An ineresting scenario
Dog Soldier
Very tough to keep up the pace for the Russians if both days are soft ground, which is what I have normally seen.
Fast is fine, but accuracy is everything.

A good game but tough for the Reds

Just not enough turns to accomplish what the Russians need to do against a German player with any experience.

I think the Russians will have a tough time taking the German objectives due to the rough terrain. A good German player can use the terrible terrain to their advantage to slow the Soviet advance to a crawl. It was interesting playing the late war Germans on the defensive.

The Russian player does not have enough turns in this scenario to secure either a Minor or Major Victory against even a moderately competent German opponent. The difficult terrain (woods, swamps, rivers) with few paved or secondary road networks and potential for soft ground conditions will hinder any Russian offense more so then the Germans.

After the initial breakthrough the German defensive lines, the Russian faces a slow, long slog through difficult terrain before he can close with the final German defense positions on the Ptich River. The 500 VP objective at Marina Gorka is completely out of reach and might as well be removed from this scenario.

The scenario needs be re-balanced with the addition of 3 - 5 turns that would make play optimal. It would force the Germans to play a little more aggressively and forward while giving the Russian a realistic chance to get the majority of his troops into battle for the decisive clash on the Ptich River. Could be a close run and exciting scenario with just a little re-work on the turns. Recommended Minsk 44 scenario with the caveat that its not a balanced match between two evenly skilled players.
