Don River bend, 125 kms W of Stalingrad, July 24th 1942:The drive by the German 6th Army into the great Don River bend, aimed at Kalach, had pocketed a number of Soviet formations around the town of Mayorovskiy. These units were placed under the command of Col. Zhuravlev. These units did, in fact, break out to the east. Can you break out, with the assistance of the two tank corps, and force your way to the east? [Size, medium]

Russian player must start his planned breakout and withdrawal to the exit hex ASAP. Any significant delay can have serious consequences

One of those interesting situations that rarely develop during big campaign games. Both sides are attacking and defending here and every time this can evolve in a different way.

Excellent scenario forcing both sides to maneuver; however it is almost impossible for the Russians to hold open the exit hex in the face of a concerted German effort to take it. Once the exit hex is blocked, it is all over for the Russians
