80 kms SSW of Tula, Oct 27th 1941: The "Rasputitsa", the season of rain and mud had arrived on the scene. The advancing Panzer columns were now severely handicapped by the weather and the "flying artillery" of the Luftwaffe was hampered by the bad visibility. Supply convoys were reduced to worse than a crawl, with tracked vehicles towing trucks from the glutinous mud. The XXIV Pz Korps had been ordered by General Heinz Guderian to press on to Tula, with its mobile elements using the only road capable of any such movement. As they moved up the road it disintegrated under the heavy traffic, but they pressed on, harried all the way by remnants of the 49th and 50th Armies. [Size, medium] Designer's Note: The 49th and 50th Armies at this time consisted of fragments of their former units with much of their artillery lost. Historically, the Russians did manage to halt the Germans 2 miles south of Tula, in this scenario you may capture the city. This scenario is Best played Head-to-Head.

It is a good little scenario and worth playing. Needs to have the VP's tweaked to balance it a bit.
Smedley
The Russians are in a tough spot here.

Great fun for Axis player!
Brutally depressing for Allied player.
"Artillerymen believe the world consists of two kinds of people: other artillerymen and targets."
Liquid_Sky
Because the Russians are mostly fixed, and there is no front to speak of, it is ridiculously easy to surround and isolate the Russians with your mobile formation. And the casualty points from killing them is worth a lot. Not fun for the Russian player to sit and mostly watch his army die.
Dog Soldier
Needs changes. Russian fixed units easily surrounded and over run.
Fast is fine, but accuracy is everything.

The 1st line of resistance @ Petrovka is defended by mobile troops that should run immediately. The next line @ Plavskoye can be defended for a while and hold high ground to spot German units in travel mode top be harried by Red Air Force. The next line is just north of Solova.

GERMANS REALLY GOT A MAJOR VICTORY JUST BY DESTROYING RUSSIAN UNITS.
