Kalinin, 180 kms NW of Moscow, Oct 13th 1941: The 1st Panzer Division of XXXXI Pz Korps was making the best use of the Staritsa - Kalinin highway. This was one of the few usable roads left in this sector. 1st Panzer, along with the 900th Motorized Infantry Brigade, had pushed way ahead of the rest of the Korps and were trying to regroup to take Kalinin. In the meantime, the Russians were desperately trying to organize counter attacks of their own on the vulnerable tail of the Korps. [Size, medium] Designer Note: The time period of this event has been condensed from 10 to 5 days. Best played Head-to-Head.

We had a storm one day, and with mud weather, it became a hopeless task for the Russian.

German superiority in numbers, firepower and mobility makes it an uneven match. Cannot see the way it may be won by the Soviets if the German commander knows his job.

If one wants to feel how it is to be assigned mission impossible that is one of the sure choices to make it happen. Never hurts trying if that cannot be prevented though. Good luck.

The only task Soviets are capable of in this scenario is contesting the city of Kalinin itself. Though, if Axis commander is competent, even this attempt might become impossible. Otherwise, not much can be done.
