The Dunkerque Evacuations, 30 May 1940: On May 29th-30th the BEF and the 1re armée made
their final dash to beaches. Operation Dynamo was in full swing - most of the BEF's rear echelons
had already been evacuated and III Corps would disembark during the course of the day.
Meanwhile, confusion of command and the withdrawal of most of the Panzers southward
temporaliy slowed German progress and cloudy weather grounded the Luftwaffe. This reprieve was
brief. 9. Panzer-Division had orders to attack the western perimeter in the late afternoon and the
infantry of 18. Armee were closing in. The defenders of the perimeter would need to fight
relentlessly if the remnants of G.A. 1 were to escape...[Size: Medium] Design Note: Exit hexes have
been placed on the beaches and in the Dunkerque harbor. The Allies are awarded victory for
withdrawing troops through the exit hexes. Objective hexes on the perimeter are "terminating
objectives." They will disappear after a preset number of turns. This is to encourage a staged
withdrawal.
