North Africa, September 13th 1940: In the Summer and early Fall of 1940, the front in North Africa was relatively quiet. The only real occurance of hostile action came in the form of raids by the armored cars of the British 11th Hussars. In September 1940, that was about to change. Mussolini was planning to expand the Italian Empire into Egypt and he ordered Generale Maresciallo Graziani to formulate and execute a grand offensive to do just that. [Size, large] *Designer's Notes: Due to the logisitical limitations of the Italian 10th Army, historically Graziani voluntarily halted his advance in the vacinity of Sidi Barrani. There he fortified and held until Operation Compass. This campaign continues several days after the Italians historically halted their advance to allow further development of the situation if both sides so desire. Thus, the Italians have the option to move to their historical locations where they should be able to solidify their hold for a draw or a minor victory if everything proceeds well. From that point, the British may choose to counter attack or the Italians can take a risk and continue to Mersa Matruh, that is if a victory is still out of their grasp. One this is certain though, the Italian player must advance with a purpose and even be reckless at times. If the Italian player is too cautious in the advance, then time will run out before Sidi Barrani can be reached. Explicit Supply is possible ans should be used.

Borring for the Brits during the first half. Italians need to plan welll or many of their units will never reach the fighting. Supply.

A delicately balanced campaign scenario in which both players have exacting chooses to make! The Italian (Axis) player must make do with poor morale (D, E) units and limited mobile formations while the British (Allies) are outnumbered with variable release dates for much needed reinforcements. There is nothing boring about this scenario! Between equal skilled players, a Draw is a likely outcome. Recommended scenario!

Interesting scenario. The Italians low movement rates prevent much chance of any successful flanking maneuvers against the much more mobile British forces. A historical outcome is not likely unless the British player simply abandons territory to the Italians. A fighting withdrawl will almost certainly result in a draw.
