#411122_01: Fall of Sidi Rezegh

By Rick Bancroft
Axis (NA41) 7 - 1 - 2 Allied (NA41)
Rating: 5.78 (12)
Games Played: 10
SM: 2
Turns: 15
Type: Stock
First Side: Axis (NA41)
Second Side: Allied (NA41)
Side Rezegh area: November 22nd, 1941. (Scenario Size: Division. Head to Head or Axis Human vs. Allied AI). After concentrating on Sidi Rezegh on the previous day, the Axis movements on this day were disjointed in the morning. The British armor would be able to concentrate its 3 brigades for the first time in the battle, while the German 21st Panzer moved to the north of Sidi Rezegh and 15th Panzer moved off to the east. Ultimately, 21st Panzer struck south against the British forces holding Sidi Rezegh, while 15th Panzer moved into the area late in the day. The end result was the Axis held Sidi Rezegh and had removed the threat from the south to the Bypass Road, but the British, although suffering heavy tank losses, were massed just south of the airfield and a South African brigade was within reach.

The Germans have to be aggressive but not suffer high loses to win. In this case the Axis player captured most objectives but lost 80 or so points from losses and lost the game.

German assault with large infantry and tank force. Allies have descent tank force but short on infantry in forward areas which makes the defense tough

Maybe I missed it, but it seemed that the Germans are unstoppable, and for much of the game the British units that might have slowed their advance were fixed, and released too late to change the outcome. Big advantage for the Germans on victory points.

Just west of The Blockhouse, there is an odd escarpment running for a kilometer between hexes on the same level (56,28 to 53,27). I assume west, as I could not find a compass on the map.

Very much IN FAVOUR OF AXIS. Half the British troops are fixed for a good part of the sce. This enables the Germans to wipe out the defenders of the objects if they defend of if they retreat easily capture the ridge and airfield'

Germans should mount and all out advance and attack from the start. This will overwhelm the forward British defenders, they retreat
the objectives will fall even sooner.
