Gabr Saleh, southeast of Tobruk: November 19th, 1941. (Scenario Size: Regiment. Head to Head or Axis Human vs AI. This scenario uses variable objective victory points) The British 8th Army launched Operation Crusader on November 18th, hoping to draw the German Afrika Korps into battle with their concentrated armor. Rommel, focused on his attack on Tobruk scheduled in the near future, believed the move was a feint to draw his units away from the Tobruk. He ignored the British Commonwealth movements. As a result, the British changed their plan and sent their armor brigades in different directions. The 4th Armored Brigade was left to protect the Gabr Saleh area and the western flank of the infantry forces pushing toward the Axis fortified positions near the Mediterranean coast. This lone brigade was then further split up with 2 of 3 tank regiments off to the northeast supporting armored cars chasing after some German recon elements. Meanwhile, Rommel finally ordered a Kampfgruppe from the 21. Panzer-Division to probe the Gabr Saleh area to get a better idea of the situation southeast of Tobruk.

It's difficult to rate the balance, as a lot depends on chance due to the battle coming down to vehicle/gun vs. vehicle/gun combat and having to disrupt defenders holding an objective.

I wasn't able to disrupt the pile of units in the southern objective, but captured the central objective on turn 3.

I lost it for a turn after my defenders disrupted (chance again), but held it for the remainder of the game. That, combined with positive casualty points was enough for a draw by just 6 points.

A lot depends on chance for the Germans, but it's an entertaining scenario.

A/A and Artillery are deadly . Still getting used to some of the other quirks of the new systems.

Very entertaining scenario except for the final results. Germans effectively achieve an almost 2:1 kill ratio and suffer a major defeat? Even if both objectives in German player's hands at end of game, still would have been a minor defeat.

A quality German panzers are hard to stop, although they accumulate Fatigue fast if are in constant fight for several hours. British reinforcements seem to arrive quite late to change the outcome.

OK for a duel showcasing the better German armor vs. the plucky but vulnerable British "Honey" tanks. These things were overmatched as light tanks vs the Ger. medium MK111s and IVs. Nevertheless, not enough time and Allied numbers to overcome to be able to achieve a difficult German win.
