10 June 1985, Operation Thrust ("Stoss"): Berlin shines as a NATO blue star in a Soviet red sky. Political tensions have been growing more stressfull and Warsaw Pact units continue their maneuvers. The garrison is on alert; but, surely the politians will resolve the current issue as they have done for the past 40 years. It may get rough, but war won't happen and Berliners will survive as they always have. However, little do they realize that the Deutsches Demokratic Republik is readying for the re-unification of the city and the nation. Today is the day! [NOTES: There is no doubt that the Berlin garrison will die. Therefore, this scenario is about how efficiently the WarPac player can capture West Berlin. Victory levels have been set with this in mind. NATO ammo and fuel dumps are worth 300 VPs; barracks are worth 100 VPs; airports are worth 200 VPs. The City Center is worth 500 VPs (100 point objectives). SYSTEM CHANGES: (1) NATO company-sized formations have been coded as battalions for combat resolution purposes. Therefore, they can not be combined. (2) ZOC's are not locking. A unit may move through an enemy ZOC using all of its movement allowance. So, keep units in contact with each other to protect their flanks. (3) An anti-tank ditch around West Berlin represents the Wall.] Special thanks to Marc "Bayonet" Bellizzi for his assistance.
