0618_02: Choppers at Ch'unch'on - MC 03 Korea '85

Ch'unch'on, South Korea, June 18th 1985 [D+3]: The ROK III Corps had taken a beating and was now streaming back to get behind the river-reservoir line at Ch'unch'on. Remnants of the ROK 21st Inf Div were putting up a valiant rearguard effort. Parts of the NKPA 2nd Corps were hard on their heels after relieving the 43rd Airborne Brigade the day prior and were about ready to cross the narrow part of the Hwach'on Reservoir. One bridge was complete and work on the second was progressing well. Just to the rear, the 2nd Independent Armored Brigade was impatient to be released. The surprising part of this plan was the inclusion of a helicopter insertion, the first time that the NKPA had ever used this option along the Kumwha Valley approach. [Size medium]
