Hill 237.9, North of Tostoye Woods, 12 July, 1943 (Scenario Size: Regiment German Human vs Russian AI or Head to Head) The men of the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Panzergrenadier Regiment began to get pretty nervious when the saw Gross Deutschland unit to their left, pull out in the morning, leaving a hugh six-kilometer gap between them and the 394th Panzergrenadier Regiment further south. At about 1300 hours they became alarmed when they saw Russian armor to the south of them on the hill mass between Hills 252.6 and 233.1. Yet for an hour the Russians just sat there and did nothing, though they certainly saw the Germans to the north of them. Then they realize why when at about 1400 hours they saw about two and a half kilometers to the west of them a Russian rifle regiment moving toward them. Then all hell broke loose as fire from tanks and mortars came raining down upon then. It was going to be a long afternoon for the Germans.
