Butovo, North West of Tomarovka: July 5th, 1943. (Scenario Size: Regiment.) The farming village of Butovo nestled between Hills 231.9 & 236.5. The high ground and crude buildings made Butovo a logical area to fortify. The 3rd Battalion, 199th Guards Rifle Regiment had dug in forward of the main Soviet lines to act as a breakwater against the expected German attack. Oberst Hans Boelsen's 111th Panzer Grenadier Regiment was tasked with clearing the village - a mission that was considered a minor action but would take much longer than expected.

This scenario all falls on the Germans being able to advance, since the Russians can't do much to stop them. Speed is the key and don't forget to bring your engineers as there are mines all over the place.

I enjoyed this, why? The Axis get a Flammpanzer!

Being new to the system I did not catch it was Soft conditions. Did not really grasp why at first my men were moving so slow. Rookie mistake. It cost me in the end. My recon got stuck in the mud, I found all the mines the hard way, and I missed one last 10vp objective which would have given me a draw. The fortunes of war.

Overall a good scenario for learning how to navigate mines and time while bunker busting (axis) vs delaying with a handful of men (Soviets).

And you get a Flammpanzer for the Axis. Just sayin'

As the Russian it a matter of when to hold, fortify, or abandon positions, all the while inflicting causalities on the advancing axis.

Good learning scenario for both sides when you are new to the game.
