Toulouse 10 April 1814: Beresford's Flank Assault - While the Spanish attack was being repulsed, Beresford continued his march southwards, refusing to launch an uphill assault in support of the Spanish, as Wellington recommended. Only after reaching the extreme right of the French position did Beresford order his troops to turn and prepare for the attack, although his artillery support had become bogged down in the muddy ground. This delay allowed the French time to move additional troops - Taupin's division, minus his battery which didn't receive orders to move - up from reserve. This scenario starts at the moment when Taupin decided to counter-attack as the British were marching uphill.
