Alcaniz 23 May 1809 - Suchet, having assumed command of III Corps at Zaragoza on 19 May, realized the need to face the Spanish in pitched battle to enhance his troop's poor morale and to avoid the necessity of abandoning Zaragoza to the enemy. Blake had taken up a defensive position at Alcaniz with some 8,000 men, but with his back to the river this was a potentially risking deployment.

NOTE: We played the scenario as the first battle of the 1809 Aragon campaign, so the initial deployment may not match exactly the stand alone scenario.

A small (roughly two divisions per side) and quite short scenario, but very challenging due to its complex terrain.
Spanish troops are colourful.

The Spanish right flank panicked too quickly and left one of the targets in very difficult situations to defend
