079 Batalla de Bailen 19 July 1808 - WDS Bonaparte's Peninsular War

Battle of Bailen 19 July 1808 - Planning to rendezvous with Vedel at Bailen, Dupont's vanguard under Chabert makes contact with the Spanish Walloon guards deployed in front of the town. It's still dawn, so the French are unaware of the enemy strength and deployment and Dupont commits his troops piecemeal as they march up. Failing to break the Spanish line, the French face disaster when their Swiss regiments switch sides (they were originally in Spanish service) and fresh Spanish troops under La Peña arrive in their rear. But will Vedel arrive in time to save the situation?
