Loznica, Serbia, 12th August 1914:
As the Austro-Hungarian first invasion of Serbia commenced, 5.Armee advanced from Bosnia-Herzegovina and crossed the Drina River in northwest Serbia.
At one crossing at Loznica, the Austro-Hungarian 36.InfanterieDivision was tasked to brush the weak Serbian forces aside and advance towards the southeast in an overall advance towards Valjevo. In their way stood the Serbian Loznica Detachment, a formation made of 2nd and 3rd line troops, backed up by fearsome Chetnik detachments.
The Austro-Hungarians would soon discover that Potiorek's overall planned advance rate for the invasion was unrealistically optimistic.
