Early in their tour, 3rd of the 4th Cav (later to become4th ACR0 ran into a heavy NVA ambush on the way to Ap Tau. Although losses were low, reinforcements were required as well as early helicopter support.

Ambush is the right word for this one. U.S. forces are hard pressed early on to survive until reinforcements arrive. A very bloody fight with tactical surprises happening every turn. A give and take fight that comes down to the final turn or two. Very exciting.
