R2V Casili Road - Combat Mission: Fortress Italy

Great map with varied terrain allowing tactical movement and deployment. The victory conditions were also very good as there were a fair number of terrain objectives all over the map. While this was a virtual mirror game with about a dozen tanks and a company of infantry on each side, the German side has a slight advantage in the following areas:

1) Infantry - due to the superiority of the MG42 to the bren gun, a standard German squad is superior to a standard British squad. With equal numbers, the Germans have this advantage and also have all Veteran troops whereas the British have almost all regular with a few veteran troops.

2) Armour - equal number of Shermans and Mk IVs but all German crews are Veteran while most British crews are Regular with a few vets.

I didn't particularly enjoy the scenario. I felt that whoever got to the main objective first and controlled the surrounding high ground was always going to hold the advantage. Once that had happened the opposing force was pinned down with nowhere to go

Evenly matched forces duke it out over interesting terrain on a good map with a mix of objectives. Really enjoyed it.

Great scenarios are far and few between, however, this one makes the grade. I could not wait for the next turn; the battle was non stop and went back and forth multiple times. My opponent was tough and cunning and had a superhuman pazer lV that would not die no matter how many hits I put into it. Lol.

Well designed meeting engagement, which quickly evolves into a cagey frontline scrap.

Good scenario, slightly balanced towards the German side, but certainly enough firepower for the Brits to overcome this.

A neat little mirror battle with equal forces and good terrain that provides a number of tactical options.

Not so sure about this one. I totaled the points and the Germans have over 1000 points more than the Brits and an advantageous starting position. Surprised to see the 5-0-5 win loss split to be honest. Feels like Germans have a significant edge when play HtH. Probably better as Human Brit vs AI German.

A fun scenario. There are plenty of choices to make. Lots of action is likely to happen.
