"In Russia we had fought men against men. We knew that in Normandy it would be men against machines. We no longer expected total victory, but we still felt an absolute sense of loyalty."

A huge battle with a lot of troops on both sides. Takes a long time to complete, but can be quite worth it. German armour dominated in our game - can be tough for the UK forces.

This is a battle where German quality and experience (veteran/crack troops with Panthers) face off against a ton of green British troops supported by lots of Shermans including a number of Fireflies. An excellent mix of infantry, armour and artillery for both sides. The map is huge and there is room for manoeuvre and lots of different tactical approaches. About the only change I would recommend is to ditch the heavy arty for both sides (nebelwerfer and 7.2" guns).

The German side has a big qualitative advantage with crack/veteran troops against almost all green Allied troops and a large number of Panthers vs Shermans (albeit a half dozen or so are Fireflies). If all Allied troops were regular with a few veterans and a few Achilles TDs were added, I think the scenario would be much better balanced.

Although bocage still gives me a tremendous amount of headaches when it comes to sighting through it, the map was enjoyable to work through. As the Brits, I had difficulty adjusting to the unusually large percentage of green infantry, which often made odd decisions on their own, or cowered, or fled. The Shermans proved to be little match for the Panthers - no surprise. Congrats to Stonecutter for another well earned victory.

Excellent battle! Very challenging for both sides. Lots of armour. Lots of casualties. Hedgerow vs open ground warfare. Highly recommended!

Excellent large battle that throws up the typical meat grinder of early Normandy battles. Both sides mightily equipped but Brits as ever in CM lacking proper quick-call tactical arty with FOO's and TRP's for a set piece assault!? and no TacAir. Big guns were nice early on but mostly fell on empty ground. Germans had the edge with crack/vet troops v mostly green Brit troops. But a brutal bruising battle for both sides, very enjoyable.
