HSG Ksk cat and mouse - Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin

6 July 1943, Ssaborovka, Russia 20th Panzer Division assigned to the 47th Panzer Corps and is attacking in the 9th Army zone of operations. They are driving south into the German defenses. The 20th Panzer Division was the only Panzer Division involved in the initial assaults. The 20th Panzer Division attacked the part of the Soviet defensive line held by the 321st Rifle Regiment of the 15th Rifle Division. The fighting has been fierce all day. The 20th Panzer Division has been successful for the most part. They have driven a wedge into the Soviet defenses around the village of Ssaborovka. As the Germans drove the Soviet counterattacking forces back with heavy losses they retired into the village to rearm and repair some of their tanks. At 16:00 hours the Division commander was visiting the command post of the 59th Grenadier Regiment. As their conference was going on, T-34's entered from the west side of the village, and threatened the entire command group. German tanks that were getting re-supplied with ammunition, and in the process of being repaired, were called upon to clear the village.
