The First Panzer Division's attack continues with junior leaders taking more and more risks - the French resistance is spotty and their defense disorganized - boldness gains territory, Iron Crosses and promotion.
Lead units of the Division have by-past a number of French positions but have come to a halt in the town of Champlitte-la-Ville with its large optics factory. The Germans spread out to secure the town and to await reinforcement and re-supply.
The German and French commanders both come to the same realization; a small company sized force, without tanks, air or artillery support is surrounded by several thousand Frenchmen – Frenchmen who do have artillery and armor support.
