Buffalo Soldiers - Combat Mission: Afrika Korps

The American 92nd Infantry Division was formed in 1942 as the first African-American fighting unit. Most of the platoon's and most of the Higher level Staff Officers were white, while the foot soldiers were african-americans. July 30th, 1944, the unit landed in Naples to the cheers of black American soldiers from other service units. Soon they went into the attack. December 1944, found the unit on both sides of the Serchio River, with a planned offensive on 25 Dec. The attack was called off when Allied forces received intelligence that the Germans were going to attack on the 27th. At 0300 on 26th Dec, the Germans struck. The 370th Infantry regiment had left 2 platoons by themselves to guard Sommocolonia. They were quickly surrounded within the village. Lt. Fox, an artillery spotter who volunteered to stay behind called in artillery to stop the German assault. The last barrage was ordered upon his own head, and his body was found several days later when the village was recaptured. Fox was to receive the DSC for his sacrifice, and in 1997, he was finally awarded the original award he was put in for, the Medal of Honor. This scenario honors the bravery of the Buffalo soldiers, who were treated better by the enemy then by other friendly units at times. Semi-Historical.
