Vire, August 5th, 1944: CCA of the 2nd Arm Div and the 116th Inf Regt, 29th Inf Div, are tasked with taking the crossroads of Vire. Vire had been heavily damaged by the Allied bombing raids on transportation hubs throughout Normandy on June 6, designed to slow the movement of German reserves to fight the landing. Now, the US forces are ordered to take Vire to help open the way for the breakout from Normandy. The Germans are ordered to hold at all costs, protecting the rear of the German counterattack forming to cut off the American spearheads. They have heavy artillery support for the forces defending the town. [Size, small, 14 turns]. Play as allied or HTH. In this version, the US forces have shifted their major push east of the Vire river directly at the town of Vire, and the Germans are shifted to the east also.
Interesting scenario with VP locations that is a bit hard to get to. A version that favour the Americans.
Had fun with this one, although the Germans are tough to push out of their positions.
