September 20, 1863 24 Turns --------------------[ Historical ]--------------------- 11:00am: The initial attack by Breckinridge's division on the Confederate right has gone well, driving in the Federal left but is beginning to stall due to lack of support. Meanwhile on the Federal right, Rosecrans creates a hole in his line by ordering Brig. General Thomas Wood's division to "close up on Reynolds as fast as possible and support him". Wood, angry at having recently been reprimanded twice by Rosecrans for failing to follow orders promptly, ignores all reason by ordering his brigades to withdraw from the line and move north. They pull out just as Longstreet's attack comes sweeping out of the woods - eight brigades of raging Rebels packed into a two-brigade-wide front!
