September 19, 1863 6 Turns --------------------[ Historical ]--------------------- 11:20am: Brigadier General Absalom Baird's division was sent to relieve Brannon's division, which had been fighting elements of Forrest's cavalry corps and Walker's Reserve Corps since 9am. They quickly forced the exhausted brigades of Brig. Gen. Matthew Ector and Colonel Claudius Wilson to retire and then halted to reorganize their lines and await further orders. They did not have to wait long before Brig. Gen. St. John Liddell's division advanced to continue the fight. ------------------------------------------------------------- Dr. Miller, a brigade surgeon to Colonel Scribner before the fight: "...the enemy is in your rear and right. They have taken my field hospital with all the wounded... and are coming down upon you like a pack of wolves."
