The impassable hexes are placed on each side of the 'corridor' which 7th US Armd Division was in command of and supposed to attack down through. Other allied division held the flank positions and there was no need to implement them in the battle since they had no part in it (except the British Artillery Asset on 2nd October which is modeled).

The German 180th Infantry Division held the left flank of KG Walther and is in the scenario but FIXED and should in most cases not play any role in the battle, but they are there to reflect in case the allies makes a heavy right-wing attack and would thus cross the command are from KG Walther to 180th.

87th Cav Recon Sq is fixed on purpose since it didnt take part of the battle at this stage. They are used as flank defense in case the german player tries to sneak units left and behind the 7th US Armd Div. in an unhistorical way. If the allied players leaves holes in the main front is of course his problem...

The Allied OOB is supposed to be accurate both in composition and time of insertion into the battle. I have not been able to figure out the actual strenght on the dates, but decided to stick to the standard OOB and not count for any losses taken before this battle since the Allied replacement system was at most time up to par. But they have a small base fatigue due to the documented disorganisation and poor command.

The axis OOB is trickier. I have found records of the units that took part of the battle. And I have found data for the tank strength of the 107.Pz Bde so that should be fairly accurate. But the actual strength values is again even harder to estimate. I decided to let all units start weaker than they are in the MG'44 campaign but some with better experience.

Finally I tweaked all strength values back and forth in order to adjust the play balance and get the right feeling of a long and grinding battle that piece by piece tear down units on both sides rather than a few big blows that erases companies in a couple of turns...

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did when I put it together.

Good gaming!
