Borodino 1941

Mozhaisk, 92 kms west of Moscow: One week into Operation "Typhoon" Vyazma and Bryansk
were surrounded and the panzers were ready to resume their drive on Moscow. On the 13th
of October General Stumme's XL Panzer Korps, slowed down by two Soviet tank brigades,
reached the Borodino battlefield 13 kms from Mozhaisk. Between them and Moscow stood
one single Red army rifle division, just arrived from Vladivostok by train to man the
partly completed Mozhaisk defense line. Colonel Polosukhin's 32nd Rifle Division
was an elit unit. Reinforced with tanks, artillery, "Katiouschas", it dug itself in on
Borodino heights. In front of them the Germans had the SS "Das Reich" Motorized Division,
the 7th panzer regiment of the 10th Panzer Division, and motorized artillery. The Waffen
SS had to break through a vey deep defense line. Several counterattacks were launched
by the Soviets with T-34s only to be stopped by 88mm Flak. Soon the losses of the
"Das Reich" division were such that the SS 11th Mot.Inf.Rgt. ceased to exist, its
survivors being split between the SS "Deutschland" and the SS "Der Fuhrer" regiments.
The Obergruppenfuhrer Paul Hauser, commander of the division, was critically wounded
by a mortar fragment in Yelnya. Finally on the 18th the line broke and the Waffen SS got
through the breach in hand to hand combat, in pure WWI style. The Siberians fought to
the last before the Germans could resume their drive on Moscow.

Nach Moskau...

Best played Human vs. Human.
As the German player you have to break the Soviet defense line, capture Mozhaisk and exit
through the eastern end of the Minsk-Moscow highway. The Germans have the burden of the
offensive, they must decide where to concentrate their forces. The game is long so try to
save your units, do not take unnecessary losses.
As the Soviet player you must always watch for the danger of a german breakthrough early in
the game as all the fortifications are not yet manned. Be aggressive and counterattack
wherever the Germans give you an opening. Remember to always block his way forward with a
defense in depth.

"Borodino '41" by Clash of Arms Games. Great game!
